Labcon UVSafe® Centrifuge Tubes – Optimal Protection for Light-Sensitive Samples
Labcon UVSafe® amber centrifuge tubes are specifically developed for handling and storing light-sensitive samples. The tubes are laboratory tested and certified to block 100% of UVA, UVB, and UVC radiation, effectively protecting sample material from harmful UV exposure.
UVSafe® technology provides a much more practical solution than traditional wrapping of centrifuge tubes in foil. It saves both time and materials while ensuring continuous sample protection. Although the tubes completely block UV light, they allow visible light to pass through, enabling direct observation of the sample and liquid level inside the tube.
The tubes are supplied in racks packaged in patented fiber racks that can be recycled and support more sustainable laboratory operations.
Designed for Safe Centrifugation and Easy Identification
UVSafe® centrifuge tubes feature a conical bottom and can be centrifuged at up to 12,500 x G (RCF). They are equipped with highly visible black graduations and a reverse-reading scale, making volume measurement simple and accurate.
A large white writing area with a patented smear-resistant surface reduces the risk of smudging and provides excellent opportunities for labeling and traceability.
The tubes are manufactured from polystyrene using high-quality non-cytotoxic medical-grade resin, while the green caps are made from polyethylene. The caps feature a secure sealing design and are particularly suitable for long-term storage. Both tubes and attached caps can be autoclaved.
Certified Purity for Research and Laboratory Use
Labcon UVSafe® centrifuge tubes were developed in Labcon’s own research laboratory and subsequently validated by independent professional laboratories for use in most standard centrifugation applications.
The tubes are sterile and certified free from ATP, RNase, DNase, DNA/RNA, and pyrogens. They withstand freezing temperatures down to -80°C, making them suitable for both short- and long-term sample storage.
All sterile Labcon products are packaged in medical-grade packaging and sterilized using irradiation according to the validated ISO 11137 method, ensuring a Sterility Assurance Level (SAL) of 10⁻⁶. This makes the products particularly suitable for use in research, diagnostic, and medical laboratories.
Sustainably Manufactured
UVSafe® centrifuge tubes are designed and manufactured with sustainability in mind. Production takes place at Labcon’s own facilities in California, where 93% of energy consumption comes from renewable energy sources.
The products are manufactured using sustainable materials, including bioplastics and recyclable recycled plastics, while packaging is designed to minimize plastic consumption. Printed materials are produced using inks free from heavy metals to reduce environmental impact.
By choosing Labcon Earth Friendly products, laboratories can significantly reduce their environmental footprint without compromising quality or performance.
FDA-Approved Quality
Labcon is registered as an FDA medical device manufacturer and operates according to high quality standards. Products are manufactured under carefully controlled conditions and undergo extensive testing for precision, clarity, centrifugation performance, torsional stability, and freedom from contamination.
The resin used complies with FDA CFR21 GMP requirements, meaning the products are approved for food-contact applications.
