Labcon MetalFree® Centrifuge Tubes – Certified Metal-Free Quality for Precision Analysis

Labcon MetalFree® centrifuge tubes are designed for laboratory applications where even trace amounts of metals can affect analytical results. The tubes are certified metal-free and can withstand centrifugation at relative centrifugal forces (RCF) of up to 17,000 × G. This makes them particularly suitable for both sample storage and analytical procedures where exceptional purity is essential.

Certified Metal-Free to 1 ppb

Using a unique and patented manufacturing process, metal contamination is reduced to an absolute minimum. Labcon MetalFree® centrifuge tubes are certified metal-free down to 1 part per billion (1 ppb), making them significantly cleaner than many other metal-free centrifuge tubes on the market, which are typically certified to only 1 part per million (1 ppm).

The tubes are developed and tested in Labcon’s own laboratory using advanced ICP technology, which verifies the absence of more than 20 common trace metals down to the 1 ppb detection limit.

In addition to their extremely low metal content, every production lot is tested and certified free from detectable levels of nucleases, endotoxins, and ATP contamination.

Designed for Safe Handling and Easy Identification

Labcon MetalFree® centrifuge tubes feature clear black graduations that are easy to read. The reverse-reading scale allows for simple and efficient volume measurement during everyday laboratory work.

The large white writing area features a patented surface that minimizes smudging and improves label durability. The centrifuge tubes are supplied with transparent polyethylene caps, making visual identification of contents quick and convenient.

The tubes are sterile, autoclavable, and suitable for storage at temperatures down to -80°C. They are also certified free of ATP, RNase, DNase, DNA/RNA, and pyrogens.

Innovative Cap Design with Enhanced Ergonomics

The flat cap provides additional space for labeling and is designed with both functionality and user comfort in mind.

A vapor-tight seal is achieved by turning the cap three-quarters of a rotation. An additional quarter-turn creates a fully leak-proof and secure closure.

This thoughtful design allows the tube to be opened and closed quickly and efficiently with fewer movements. Because the cap can be sealed in a single smooth motion, wrist strain is reduced compared to traditional closures that require multiple turns. This contributes to a more ergonomic workflow and may help minimize the risk of repetitive strain injuries over time.

Developed and Tested for Laboratory Use

Labcon MetalFree® centrifuge tubes are developed in Labcon’s internal laboratories and subsequently verified by independent professional laboratories. The products are tested for use in most common centrifugation applications and meet high standards for quality and reproducibility.

All sterile Labcon products are packaged in medical-grade packaging and sterilized using irradiation according to the validated ISO 11137 method. Sterilization achieves a Sterility Assurance Level (SAL) of 10⁻⁶, making the tubes particularly suitable for both research and medical laboratory environments.

ACT-Labeled Laboratory Product with a Focus on Sustainability

Labcon MetalFree® centrifuge tubes carry the ACT Label and are manufactured with a strong focus on reducing environmental impact. Production takes place at Labcon’s own facilities in California, where manufacturing operations are powered by 93% renewable energy.

The company uses sustainable materials such as bioplastics and recyclable post-consumer plastics, along with packaging solutions designed to minimize plastic consumption. Packaging is printed with plant-based inks to further support environmentally responsible manufacturing practices.

Labcon offers more than 100 ACT-certified products. The ACT Label provides transparent information about a product’s sustainability profile, based on factors such as manufacturing processes, energy consumption, packaging, and overall environmental impact.

Although plastic products remain essential in modern laboratories, analyses show that a significant portion of their environmental footprint originates from the manufacturing process itself. By choosing ACT-labeled Earth Friendly products from Labcon, laboratories can reduce their overall environmental impact.

FDA Approved for Food Contact

Labcon is registered with the FDA as a medical device manufacturer and operates under rigorous quality assurance standards. Products are manufactured under tightly controlled conditions and undergo extensive testing for factors such as dimensional accuracy, clarity, torsional strength, centrifugation performance, and freedom from contamination.

The materials are based on resins that comply with FDA CFR 21 GMP requirements, meaning the products are approved for food contact applications.
