CytoSep™ cytology funnels are designed for the preparation of cytological samples by cytocentrifugation. These single-use funnels are fully compatible with Shandon CytoSpin centrifuges and ensure that cells are deposited as a thin layer within a clearly defined area of the microscope slide.
During centrifugation, the filter card absorbs excess fluid and contributes to uniform cell deposition. Selected variants are supplied with a pre-mounted filter card that is already positioned correctly and therefore does not require manual adjustment before use. This simplifies sample preparation and helps achieve consistent, reproducible results.
CytoSep™ is available as a Single Funnel for one sample per microscope slide and as a Double Funnel, allowing two separate samples to be processed on the same slide.
CytoSep™ Single Funnel
CytoSep™ Single Funnel is designed for one sample per microscope slide and concentrates the cells within a defined area measuring 6 mm in diameter, corresponding to approximately 28 mm². The funnels can be used with stainless steel slide clips.
For sample volumes up to 0.5 ml, a white filter card is used. For smaller sample volumes up to 0.4 ml, such as cerebrospinal fluid, the brown filter can be used. The brown filter has a slower absorption rate and is therefore suitable for smaller sample volumes.

CytoSep™ Double Funnel
CytoSep™ Double Funnel is designed for the processing of two separate samples on the same microscope slide. During sample preparation, the two samples are kept separate and deposited within two clearly defined areas on the slide. This makes it possible to process two samples separately on a single microscope slide.
