(excl. They function as primary containers and are developed with a strong focus on both sample integrity and user convenience.
The tubes are available in 5 ml and 10 ml sizes and are suitable for all types of biological materials, including liquid samples. The integrated UV barrier blocks 100% of UV light, eliminating the need for additional protection such as foil wrapping. At the same time, the material allows visual assessment of the sample volume.
The cap is engineered to be completely leak-proof, creating a secure seal that minimizes the risk of exposure and contamination. This makes the tubes particularly suitable for handling and transporting valuable and sensitive specimens.
The tubes are manufactured from durable, high-quality polypropylene, providing both mechanical strength and chemical resistance. The conical bottom supports efficient sample handling, while the wide skirted base ensures stable positioning.
Caps are included and are autoclavable. The products are certified free of RNase, DNase, DNA/RNA, and pyrogens, ensuring high biological purity. They can also be stored at temperatures down to -80 °C without loss of performance.
IATA 95 kPa Certification and Transport Requirements
For international shipment of biological substances, airlines require compliance with IATA regulations. IATA 95 kPa certification verifies that the container can withstand pressure variations encountered during air transport.
Certification requires the container to resist internal pressure producing a pressure differential of at least 95 kPa (0.95 bar / 13.8 psi) without leakage. Labcon SuperClear® transport tubes meet this requirement.
In countries where UN3373 regulations apply to the shipment of biological materials — including the United States — Labcon transport tubes may be used as primary containers for both air and ground transportation based on their 95 kPa certification.
Labcon UVSafe® transport tubes are developed and optimized in the company’s own laboratory and subsequently tested in independent professional laboratories. The products are validated for use across a wide range of standard laboratory applications.
All sterile products are packaged in medical-grade packaging and sterilized using a validated ISO 11137 irradiation process. This ensures a Sterility Assurance Level (SAL) of 10⁻⁶.
Labcon SuperClear® sample and transport tubes carry the ACT label, documenting the product’s environmental profile. Production takes place at Labcon’s own facilities in California, where 93% of the energy consumption comes from renewable sources.
Sustainable materials are used in manufacturing, including bioplastics and recycled plastics. Packaging is designed with reduced plastic content and printed with inks free of heavy metals. Labcon offers more than 100 ACT-certified products, demonstrating the company’s comprehensive environmental commitment.
The ACT label provides transparent evaluation of environmental impact based on manufacturing processes, energy use, packaging, and product life cycle.
Although plastic use is essential in modern laboratory environments, analyses show that a significant portion of environmental impact originates from the manufacturing process. By choosing Labcon’s ACT-labeled Earth Friendly products, laboratories can significantly reduce their overall environmental footprint.
Labcon is registered with the FDA as a medical device manufacturer and operates under strict quality control systems. Production takes place in controlled environments, and all products undergo comprehensive performance and quality testing.
The products meet requirements for precision, clarity, torque strength, and centrifugation resistance, and are certified free from contamination. The resin used complies with FDA CFR21 GMP standards, making the products approved for food contact.
